Alexander Petrovich Karpik was born on May 12, 1956 in the town of Kuibyshev, Novosibirsk region, Russia. In 1978 graduated from Novosibirsk Institute of Geodesy, Aerial Photography and Cartography Engineers (NIIGAiK). In 1982 - 1985 he studied at the post-graduate course of the Moscow Engineering and Construction Institute named after V.V. Kuibyshev.

Published more than 100 scientific works and works on methods of education, more than 15 educational and methodical guides. Excellence in Geodesy and Cartography, Honorary Surveyor, Honored Worker of the Russian Federation Higher Professional Education, Honored Worker of the Higher School of Russia, Laureate of the Novosibirsk Region State Prize.
