Abstract:
The paper shows the entrepreneurial aspect of cartographic production in Russia. There are described the stages of development of entrepreneurship in the field of cartography, from the reign of Peter I to the present day. The emergence of commercial cartography in the first half of the XVIII century is shown, when it became the first civilian typography. Also a period of maps creation that was becoming professional at the beginning of the XIX century is mentioned. Details considering flourishing commercial cartography of the period of 1861 to 1917, when the abolition of serfdom, the development of rail transport, the growth of literacy and the number of population in urban areas have caused a significant increase in demand for cartographic production. It showed the Soviet period, characterized by a return to a state monopoly and prohibition of private enterprise. The period from 1990 to the present time is considered as a revival of Russian business in the field of cartography. The paper shows the entrepreneurial aspect of cartographic production in Russia. There are described the stages of entrepreneurship development in the field of cartography in the period from the reign of Peter I to the present day. Historical documents testifying the commercial component of the cartographic activity in pre-revolutionary Russia are attached. Such questions as commercial approach to the creation of maps and atlases, the use of cards as a carrier of advertising information, the use of marketing techniques in the implementation of cartographic products are raised in this article. There is also shown the influence of economic development and trade in the production, appearance and content of atlases and maps.
