Abstract:
This article describes some aspects of electrical grid investigation via satellite images. Study of electrical grid spatial configuration can be performed with remote sensing data in the visible range. We reviewed main features of satellite images critical to correct detection of powerline transmission lines in this paper. Space images allow us to obtain some spatial patterns of electrical grid evolution and different related characteristics, for example age, pylon types and structure vulnerability. It is introduced the list of terms determining particular cases of electrical grid spatial configuration. It can be helpful for future development of the unified approach to describe and analyze powerline transmission network.
