Abstract:
The article deals with the study of a printed edition “Kipregel”, a publication of the united party cell of the R.K.P.(B.) “Military Topographic Directorate of the Red Army Headquarters” and “Geodesy” factory, the predecessor of the edition called “Geodesist”. The “Kipregel” consisted of a Wall Newspaper and a Supplement in the form of a journal and was a typical example of visual campaigning in the first years of the Soviet power. The study of historical sources showed that the issues of the articles published in “Kipregel” dealt with everyday- and arrangement matters of surveyors, on its pages important technical and manufacturing problems were solved, for example, such as applying geodesy to improve artillery firing. The history of Russian cartography development was described in detail, and an overview of foreign geodetic equipment was given. The authors of the papers were A. Artanov, P. Aksenov, V. Nikiforov, V. Krempolsky, who left a notable mark in the history of formation of the cartographic and geodetic industry of our country. The author examines in detail and shows the process of gradual transition from the wall newspaper of military personnel to the science-and-practice publication “Geodesist”, which solved the problem of uniting specialists from topographers of various departments and became the basis for founding the journal “Geodesy and Cartography”, the centenary of which is celebrated this year
