Sergei Stepanovich Nekhin was born on January 11, 1952 in Moscow Region.

In 1974 graduated with honours from MIIGAiK majoring in "aerial photogeodesy". In 1982 – from postgraduate studies at the Central Scientific Research Institute of Information Technologies and Radio electronics, and in 2006 - doctoral program of the MIIT (Moscow Transportation Engineer University).

In the field of scientific interests there is topographic mapping based on aerospace survey data. The author of more than 120 scientific publications, more than 60 scientific and technical reports, numerous reports at international congresses and symposia. Author of a number of regulatory technical documents in the field of aerial photography, photogrammetry, technologies for creating maps and plans, GOST (State Standard) for photogrammetry, etc.

Since 1974 has been working at CNIIGAiK (in 2013 it was reorganized into FSBE "Centre of Geodesy, Cartography And SDI». FSBE "Centre of Geodesy, Cartography And SDI» was reorganized as the PLC "Roskadastr»).

Honored Worker of Geodesy and Cartography of the Russian Federation, Honorary Surveyor, laureate of the award named after F.N.Krasovsky.
