The role of topographic maps in a territories’ environmental state estimate is considered by the image of natural objects. Ecological indices are detected and substantiated to be obtained from topographic maps after analyzing the main classes of natural objects and their characteristics – both immediate ones and derived ones – including derivative ecological maps. A summary specifying info-ecological potential of the maps is given.
