Substantiated that the current process of informatization of topographic and geodetic and cartographic production led to the modernization of cartographic research method and to increase its epistemological and technological importance of interdisciplinary integration of Earth Sciences. Identified and analyzed the scientific and technical direction of modernization of the method. We propose a practical example of telecommunications modernization cartographic research method for monitoring land use in the basin of Lake Baikal.
