The results of studying the digital level use under insufficient illumination are given. The studies were conducted in two stages, in the laboratory and in real work. The illumination limit for the rod at which the level records measurement and the dependence of visibility on the distance from the level to the rod were defined. A three-dimensional model of light interpolation in the main housing of «Raspadskaya» mining and processing factory was built up.
