The article is devoted to the problem of the cartographic study method application during the analysis of thematic maps and digital terrain models for thematic mapping purposes. The research object are coastal morphosystems of Black Sea coast of Russia. General principles of cartographic information usage for getting the data about the assessment criteria of the coastal morphosystems state were developed. New methods of creating the coastal morphosystems map basing on the results of thematic map and digital terrain model analysis were tested on the study area.
