The electronic mapping of population density in the context of municipalities and settlement areas for Irkutsk district in Irkutsk region is considered. Habitat analysis and original «dazimetric» method by V. P. Semenov-Tyan-Shansky give a more accurate picture of the spatial distribution of the population. On the basis of the population density maps on areas of settlement socio-economic and ecological mapping for territorial control is possible.
