The paper presents results of studying and mapping of modern urban land use structure of the city of Karaganda - the largest industrial centre of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Specific features of mining badlands’ and coal reserve areas’ location in the city structure plan were identified according to the analysis of a series developed analytical maps and complex map of the modern urban land use structure. Modern problems of urban disturbed lands use and ecological rehabilitation were characterized.
