Abstract:
This article describes the historical path of mapping the territory of the Crimea from the first Ptolemy's maps up to modern maps. It shows the peculiarities of cartographic products of different accuracy, temporal and spatial coverage. There are the first topographic maps of the peninsula and maps of different thematic contents. There is a description of the first atlas, which includes the territory of Crimea. There are marked fundamental works of Soviet times. There are enumerated the problems of spatial development of the Crimean peninsula and its mapping software after incorporation into the Russian Federation. There is found a solution in form of the regional atlas creation, which has a strategic importance. There are proposals for the content of the atlas and technology of its creation and updates. There are conclusions of the stated material.
