Abstract:
A new approach to the study and mapping of restoration succession fallow lands is discussed. The cartographic analysis of the dynamics of land categories in the last hundred years was made. It is based on the analysis of maps compiled by the Corps of Military Topographers and remote sensing data (Landsat MSS, Landsat 5 TM). Using multitemporal NDVI values from high-resolution satellite images and materials of expeditions’ research GIS modeling of restoration succession of forests on former farmland was conducted. This information about the composition and dynamics of modern vegetation, marked by a cartographic GIS modeling is the basis for the systematic assessment of vegetation and can be used in reforestation, monitoring of dynamic processes in the forests and arranging protection of their phytodiversity. They can also serve as a basis for assessing the ecological potential of the territory.
