The article describes the basic principles of map making industry, which is an important part of any comprehensive cartographic products, including electronic products. The present cartographic work designed to expand the regional peculiarities of the economic complex of the Baikal region. It displays the current status and the placement and development of industrial production. That industry is the basis of the territorial organization of the economy of the whole region. An important consideration is given to the use of certain methods of cartographic representation of industries considered (Znachkova application method as well as cartograms and kartodiagramm). Of particular importance is the additional text support cartographic product that is relevant, given the shortage of statistics and the inability to display some of the technical and economic indicators of industry. The presence of an accompanying test can reveal not only the territorial features accommodation facilities and the main branches of industry, but also consider qualitative and quantitative characteristics, which were not shown on the map as well as to identify the main industrial centers and nodes of their industrial specialization. According to the results of the study, identified the main problems encountered in the preparation of today’s card industry.
