On the territory of Tazheran steppes in the Cisolkhon region the intrazonal soils like salt marshes are formed. The few data on soils defined the goal – the study of the soils properties, and a comprehensive study using GIS mapping. On the basis of remote sensing and GIS technologies, we studied soil near the mineral lakes within the steppe areas of the Cisolkhon region. We revealed the contours of saline soils and created a database. We noticed circularity in the configuration of the lakes: increase and decrease. The dynamics of flooding and drying processes are mainly related to climatic and hydrological conditions. The drying processes of lakes area reduction processes in the presence of saline groundwater leads to the formation of saline soils – salt marshes, which area varies depending on environmental factors. The digital soil map of the Cisolkhon region is more informative, the hierarchy extent on different scales of digital maps is more accurate than in paper maps.
