Abstract:
The article considers theoretical and practical issues of landscape-hydrological mapping of the Baikal natural territory. Explained are the expediency and the advantages of spatial differentiation of the hydrological features of the catchment. Variants of multiscale mapping are presented, based on the conjugated factor analysis of hydrological features and structures of natural catchment systems. Using the maps of different scales we showed conditionality of hydrological processes by different landscape components and change of main indicative signs, depending on the extent of territorial generalization. Landscape-hydrological maps of topological level visualize genetic characteristics of runoff formation, indicated by the individual characteristics of the underlying surface. The maps of regional level show climatic and orographic conditioning of hydrological processes as well as spatial differentiation of the catchment water return in different periods of moisture. Landscape-hydrological mapping as interpretative approach to the creation of maps on the landscape base, allows us to show hydrological properties of particular catchment area.
