Abstract:
This paper deals with landscape mapping using GIS. The main aim of investigation is to create a landscape map of the territory of Kovykta gas-condensate field, located in Irkutsk oblast, by the technique of overlaying different thematic layers: map of relief, vegetation, soil and others, as well as by the analysis of space-time links and dynamic conditions of landscapes. The landscape structure is divisible into four groups of facies, according to the four tiers of altitudinal differentiation. Dynamic categories are represented on the map and its legend. Anthropogenic modification of the landscape (areas disturbed by fire) is shown by hachures. The scheme of objects of field infrastructure in conjunction with landscape map will allow further to assess the environmental impacts of the production of gas. The complex GIS model of research territory including all aspects describing natural properties is assumed to be done on the base of landscape map.
