Abstract:
The results of observations at permanent GPS network points located in the Brawley Swarm (M5.3) earthquake region, which occurred on August 26, 2012 in California, USA are analyzed in this work. The results of determining the annual displacements of GPS network points before and after the earthquake in the period from 2006 to 2016 are analyzed. Values characteristics of the displacements are calculated by two methods: without consideration of regional movements of Earth surface and with their consideration. An estimation of the accuracy of Earth surface displacements are performed. The deformation of area expansion / compression (dilatation) of the GPS network triangle, inside which the epicenter of the earthquake was located, is calculated. Comparison of the deformation obtained and deformation calculated a priori is performed. This work is a part of large research which aim is to identify deformational anomalies of the Earth›s surface, obtained from permanent GPS observations before strong earthquakes.
