The author presents the main milestones in the history of the journal “Geodesy and Cartography”. Over the 100 years of its existence, the status, appearance and contents of the publication have changed. Founded as a joint body of the Military Topographic and Higher Geodetic Administrations, the “Geodesy and Cartography” is currently a mass-medium of the CIS geodetic services. On its pages, the stages of surveying and map-making branch formation have been reflected since 1925. The issues considered over the years represent development of such fields of science as digital cartography and geoinformatics, the geodetic application of global navigation satellite systems, as well as improvement of instruments and methods for performing core profile work. Currently, the journal is at the forefront of scientific problems: it publishes articles by scientists and specialists from leading universities, research and production organizations not only in Russia, but also abroad. Its editorial staff is always ready to cooperate with any authors including new young ones
