Abstract:
The author describes the role of the journal in covering the main fields of domestic scientific research from 2016 to the first half of 2025. A bibliographic analysis of the works showed that, even after 100 years, the journal remains open to new technologies for preparing digital cartographic and geoinformation products to study geosystems and inform on decision-making processes in many areas of theory and practice. The publication also provides information on foreign trends in cartography and geoinformatics. The relevance of the published articles to the research topics of the commissions and working groups of the International Cartographic Association was assessed. The scientific and technological focus of domestic cartography was identified and research topics requiring greater representation in the journal`s sections were indicated to reflect the current state of domestic cartography and geoinformatics properly. Terminological features for naming the final results of research were established, highlighting the scientific issue of maintaining the role of cartographic support in achieving state programmes and solving applied tasks in the context of digitalisation of Earth sciences, their solutions were proposed. It is concluded that the journal is in demand as a unique platform for accessing advanced domestic developments in cartography and geoinformatics, discussing issues relating to development and relevance of the manufacturing branch
Congratulations to the editorial staff on the centenary of the journal Geodesy and Cartography and special thanks for fruitful cooperation, maintaining traditions and sensibility to new directions
