The year of 2025 marks the 100th anniversary of the birth of Lev Aleksandrovich Emelyanov, the first surveyor nominated for the highest honor, the title of the Hero of Socialist Labor. At the beginning of the Great Patriotic War, he was a sailor and a hydrologist technician, and from 1943 to 1950 served in the Soviet Army. The author describes the military merits of L. A. Emelyanov. In 1953, he graduated from the Leningrad Topographic College and got the qualification of a surveyor technician. From 1953 to 1976, he worked for the North-West Aerogeodetic Enterprise (Enterprise No. 10 of the Head Office of the Geodesy and Cartography). For outstanding achievements in fulfillment of the five-year plan to provide developing regions of the Extreme North with topographic and geodetic data, the party chief L. A. Emelyanov was awarded the title of the Hero of Socialist Labor. Lev Aleksandrovich applied rational methods of work actively and introduced complex brigades in his party. The glorious labor biography of L. A. Emelyanov is described
