Abstract:
The main purpose is to present the audience the results of the author`s own research on solving the problem of establishing reliable measurement weights during photogrammetric alignment. A brief overview of the declared topic is given. The goals, objectives, and conditions of the process are defined. The definitions of its accuracy and statistical quality are provided. The role of measurement residuals there is demonstrated. The general and specific features of direct and indirect measurement residuals are highlighted. The theoretical foundations and consequences of the projecting rays’ bundle transformation during photogrammetric alignment are considered. The necessity of counteracting the destabilizing effect of converting the bundle of projecting rays in the said computations is explained. It is indicated that the only available way to avoid this is to assign proper weights to the measurements that reflect their actual accuracy. They should be updated at each iteration to ensure the statistical quality of the estimation process. It is shown that the residuals of the measurements, which change at each iteration, are the current estimates of the standard deviations of the corresponding measurements. The author also noted the necessity of dividing the measurements into groups based on their statistical homogeneity in order to calculate their actual standard deviations. The outlines of the technology of the measurements’ weight correction during photogrammetric equalization are outlined. Some non-obvious issues of its practical implementation are noted
