Abstract:
The systematization of 9 foreign and 5 domestic geoinformation projects in the field of archaeology revealed three functional and target groups of platforms, among them the most representative ones are: research archives (ARIADNE, ADS, SND, IANUS), applied accounting and protection systems (National Heritage Board Geoportal), and specialized analytical resources (ArchAtlas). It was established that the key factor ensuring interoperability and long-term preservation of data in international systems is implementing OAIS, FAIR, CIDOC CRM standards and OGC services. In Russia, contrary to foreign practice, a disparate set of regional solutions (Archaeological Map of Russia, National Atlas of Russia, geo-portals of Crimea, Mordovia, Tatarstan) is formed but they are not integrated into the national spatial data infrastructure. The main obstacle is the lack of mandatory metadata standards and exchange protocols, as well as the project-based nature of funding rather than program-based one, which poses a problem to long-term sustainability of platforms. A promising development path is transition to a federated network architecture that combines a centralized registry including flexible regional modules, mandatory legislative enforcement of standards and creation of sustainable funding mechanisms to overcome data fragmentation and integrate it into the international research landscape
The work was supported by a grant from the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Tatarstan, RF, for researchers and academic staff (Grant Agreement No. 1/2025-PD dated 22.12.2025)
