Abstract:
The authors present a study of regional geodynamic processes in North Caucasus based on the data from differential geodetic stations (DGS). It is demonstrated that their density allows for derivation of surface displacement velocities and construction of detailed local geodynamic models by processing long-term DGS observations. An example of DGS data manipulating for monitoring geodynamic processes in the Caucasus region is given, and the speeds of the stations are determined. Their residual velocities obtained through excluding the velocity components of the Eurasian Plate are estimated. The similarity of the distribution maps of the above mentioned components with similar ones constructed using data from alternative sources is demonstrated. Conclusions are made on the need for longer observation intervals (about 2,5-3 years) for confident determining periodic and constant components of the stations' movement speeds
The study was conducted as part of a component of the research project “GEOTECH QUANT-3” in order to improve the accuracy of coordinate time determinations in the territory of the Russian Federation
