Abstract:
Currently there are no computer-based tools that automate the use of large-scale maps from the XIX century – unique cartographic products. There are notable maps among the large-scale maps of the XIX century: oneand two-virst maps “Mende”, which were published in 8 provinces of central Russia. The electronic atlas is designed for a wide range of users, provides scaling and navigate through scanning electronic map by using coordinateaware bookmarks with associated graphic-, hypertext- and multimedia-information. The basis of the electronic atlas is two-virst landmark topographic map of the Tver province in 1853 and modern maps. There is implemented synchronous navigation mode on both maps with the ability to adjust the local parameters of their combination. There is tested inclusion in the atlas of two-virst topographic map of Moscow Province in 1860 and three-virst maps of Smolensk, Pskov and Novgorod.
