Abstract: The issues for the standards on the national Engineering and Design hydrographic surveying are discussed. The national set of rules СП-11-104–97 and guidance document РД31.74.04–2002 are considered. The new set of rules prepared by the National Association of surveyors are analyzed. These new set of rules and guidance documents are based on the outdated hydrographic concepts and do not comply with the modern internationally accepted hydrographic standards requirements, issued by the International Hydrographic organization (S-44). The necessity for the modern national hydrographic standard is suggested.
