In the article the proposal of authors on introduction of geoinformation technologies in school geographical education by means of creating a virtual thematic globe is considered. Thus, an attempt to eliminate a contradiction between the reached level of cartography development and outdated geographic visual aids incapable to captivate a modern school student is made. The analysis of the virtual online globes is focused on a wide range of user’s data stored in Internet servers. The reasons showing impossibility of their use at school lessons are listed. The technology of creating a cartographic product, as well as prospects of using it at the level of school education is briefly stated.
