The radioecological situation in the territory of the f. USSR is considered (major factors and consequences of radioactive pollution). The cartographical generalizations which have been out in recent years in the specified area are analyzed. For receiving a full-fledged radioecological picture of the territory of the f. USSR a need for additional cartographical researches in the Semipalatinsk test site’s zone of influence is noted.
