Abstract:
To study the spatial disposition of soil contours regularities as soil cover components the algorithm is created, and in the ArcGIS environment an automated method of obtaining the necessary related information is developed. This algorithm is based on the сircus concept – a circle of a variable radius with profiles oriented to the cardinal. The circus approach to the study the spatial distribution of soil regularities makes it possible to describe quantitatively the soil part participation in local soil spectra along to gradients of hydrothermal indicators in the directions of north-south, east-west, and others. This method allows to form thematic spatial database characteristics of natural features based on the existing digital thematic maps in automatic mode, after marking the circus center point and the radius length. Such method allows to generate large volumes of quantitative data for mapping soil units, create regional soil data base on structure of soil cover, and do bioclimatic groupping of mapping soil units.
