Creation of the Department of Cartography and Geoinformatics at the Faculty of Geography of PSU in April 2012 became a logical continuation of the process of informatization of natural-science research in the Russian Federation. In fact, it became the first structurally formed unit of higher cartographic and geoinformatic education in the Urals. Currently, all three levels of modern higher education are formed and function successfully: bachelor's, master's and postgraduate courses.
