Abstract:
There are many researches concerning renewable energy theme nowadays. The most popular topic deal with solar and wind energy sources. Therefore, some regions in Russia have another suitable renewable source of energy – wastes of agriculture that can be used to establish regional bioenergy. Insufficient data constrains the investigation aimed at gross potential assessment. It is common to use statistics, which show the state of agriculture in general and without any details of regional distribution of croplands. In this article, we suggest the methods that allows getting suitable data via Landsat-8 images analysis, processing data with GIS technologies and mapping. It is remarkable that we used land Cover and Land Use classification to form a base map. We tested the methods to get gross potential of crop resources for southwestern part of the Crimean peninsula. It is shown in the article that quantities we had consider the official data, but suggested data representation gives us ingenious sight on the capabilities of regional bioenergy.
The reported study was funded by RFBR according to the research project № 16-05- 01015 ʻʻDevelopment of scientifi c approaches and testing methods of renewable energy potential estimation and mapping at the regional level
