Abstract:
The team of employees and students from the Institute of Earth Sciences in Tyumen State University have been developing Scientific and information publication “Ecological Atlas of the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Okrug: results of scientific research, condition, dynamics, forecast” initiated by the Administration of the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Okrug. The Atlas has a classical structure. The introduction contains the actual physical and administrative maps. In the first section, a general description of the territory’s relief of the Okrug is given as well as maps of steepness of slopes, horizontal and vertical dismemberment of the relief. The second block of the atlas contains sections, which are devoted to the demographic situation within the Okrug, the social sphere and the life quality of the population (population density map, medico-ecological situation аnd other). The results of assessing anthropogenic transformation of the territory, the state of atmospheric air and the quality of surface waters extend the characterization of the region’s ecological state. The final block of atlas maps is dedicated to matters of research activities taking place in the territory of the Okrug as well as the state and developing the system of specially protected natural areas and regional environmental monitoring.
