Abstract:
The paper deals with the method of value assessment for objects of digital cartographic heritage. The method is based on the system of the original cartographic object transformation into various analog or digital forms and formats. The formula linking the assessment of digital cartographic objects with the evaluation of the original one, as well as its analog copies, is presented. The method involves а variety of evaluation criteria: historical, cultural, political, economic, etc. It covers all the stages of the objects’cycle from the development to their removal from circulation. The method includes structural elements of valuing, valuing scheme, the procedure of determining the objects’ significance levels. The author offers some examples of evaluations in the framework of UNESCO programs for preserving documentary and digital heritage. The valuation algorithm is based on the method of the analytic hierarchy process (AHP), which enables comparative valuing heterogeneous objects of analog and digital cartographic heritage.
