Abstract: Astronomers have been using the coordinates of stars (or quasars) in studies of motions of the Earth‘s pole and terrestrial points although the terrestrial coordinate system – λ, Φ – was already established. The method is explained of global solution of the equations of observations from different places on the Earth in order to obtain the mean coordinates λ, Φ and those of stars a, b, – linked to the direction of the plumb line of equatorial observatory А with zero stars – longitude. The relation is shown between motions of the Earth’s pole and observations from point А, and possibility of using it as an initial point of International astronomical-geodetic net.
